Fun-Filled. Educational. Historical.

Famous Soo Locks Boat Tours and Sault Historic Sites announce plans for a Family Fun Day for Eastern Upper Peninsula residents on Sunday, May 22. For a donation of any value, all EUP residents with proper identification can visit the Museum Ship Valley Camp, Tower of History, River of History Museum and enjoy a Famous Soo Locks Boat Tour. Entrance fees for all attractions will be waived in exchange for a donation to the newly planned Soo Locks Children’s Museum in development. Located on Portage Avenue in downtown Sault Ste. Marie, the Soo Locks Children’s Museum will provide children with an engaging environment to learn through hands-on, interactive exhibits to facilitate learning and growth.

“Taking a boat tour through the Soo Locks or visiting local attractions are great educational opportunities, and we’re very excited that this Family Fun Day will encourage all EUP adults and children to enjoy existing attractions while supporting the development of the Soo Locks Children’s Museum that will be a valuable addition to our community,” said Richard Brawley, who has served as General Manager for Famous Soo Locks Boat Tours for 42 seasons and former Executive Director for Sault Historic Sites for 17 years.

Food trucks, including Bob’s Food Trailer (former owner of Clyde’s Restaurant) and Grandpa’s Mini Donuts, will be on site in the parking lot between the Valley Camp and Famous Soo Locks Boat Tours.

“We welcome all EUP families to take advantage of this unique opportunity on Sunday, May 22 to explore the rich history of our area aboard our tour boats,” said Scott LaBonte, Famous Soo Locks Boat Tours General Manager-in-training. LaBonte will assume the role of General Manager for Famous upon Brawley’s retirement at the end of this season. Lacie Wojnaroski has been promoted to Executive Director of Sault Historic Sites.
